Peter is a paradox. A blue-collar fisherman who delivers a sermon where 3000 people were converted. A man who correctly answers Jesus, saying he is the Son of the living God, but then denies Christ three times. Pastor Levi Matteson continues in our sermon series the Unstoppable Wave with the story of Peter, who didn't want to see God's grace bestowed on the gentiles. The politically correct thing in the day was for Jews to despise "the man," the Roman authority, and he wanted the Messiah exclusively for the Jews. Salvation is exclusive, that is exclusively through Christ, but it is offered to all. The Scripture text for today is Acts 10:36-48.This is a podcast of Evangel Church, Houghton Michigan, Sunday, September 2, 2018.
Good news travels quickly. In the book of Acts, Jesus’ disciples gathered and set a wave of hope that has continued to gain momentum for centuries. His message is unstoppable. And believe it or not, there are parts of this earth that still haven’t heard the Good News. But He’ll continue using His people to build His Church until everyone who seeks hope is washed over by the Unstoppable Wave of the Gospel.
