Breastplate of Righteousness

Rosario Curcuru talks about the breastplate of righteousness, which helps us stand firm because Christ makes us right with God and teaches us to live right in a crooked world, including:
1. We are not righteous by nature, we stand in Christ’s righteousness (Romans 3:23-26),
2. Living out practical righteousness helps protect us from the schemes of Satan (1 Peter 1:13-16; Ephesians 4:26-27), and
3. Righteousness helps us resist the devil’s schemes.
This episode of the Evangel Houghton podcast is a Sunday message from Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, March 22, 2026.

Scripture References: Ephesians 4:26-27, 1 Peter 1:13-16, Romans 3:23-26

From Series: "Armed, The Unseen Battle"

Many picture evil as dark, loud, and easy to spot. However, Satan isn’t always most effective in obvious darkness, but rather in counterfeit light — something that looks real enough to fool you: half-truths, self-righteousness, compassion without holiness, "freedom" that's bondage to sin, and spirituality apart from Christ. Therefore, Paul tell the church, “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Eph. 6:10–11)

In this series, we walk through Ephesians 6:10–18 to learn how to recognize the enemy’s schemes before they own you, discern the difference between the real thing and a religious counterfeit, stop fighting the wrong battles and the wrong people, and stand firm with God’s armor of truth, righteousness, readiness, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer. This is a sober, biblical, and practical series for anyone who feels worn down, distracted, numb, anxious, tempted, or stuck. If you’ve ever said, “Something feels off, and I can’t explain it,” this series will help you see the battle and find strength to stand.
