Confidence in the Corners

Yoopers are aware of the piles of tailings and stamp sand left over from the copper mines. The byproducts of mining contains lead and other toxic heavy metals. We remember with fondness the copper boom, while we also acknowledge the scar it left on our land. Death and suffering are the byproducts of life in a fallen world. There is tension between focusing on the blessings in this world to the extent that we ignore the reality of suffering and, on the other hand, dwelling so much in the suffering that we miss out on the joy of life.

Pastor Travis continues in the sermon series "The Luge: The Ride of Your Life" showing us that we can have Confidence in the Corners knowing that we have a God who is with us in our suffering. An abundant life is not a promise to avoid suffering, rather an assurance that life is better with God. The Scripture text is Romans 8:18-28.
